Over the summer, I read Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers which is about an African American boy named Richie. He is 17 years old and just graduated high school. After he entered the army, he was sent to Vietnam after a month. While he is in the military, he meet two new friends named Jenkins and Peewee. While they were doing basic training, Jenkins gets killed by a land mine. After a little while later while he is in war, he became very sad and cannot communicate to his family or friends. Later in the book, Richie and his friends get a new leader named Sargent Dongan. He was a very rude person and put both of them in a very dangerous situations when they were about to die. Soon, Sargent Dongan died and Richie and Peewee became seriously wounded. Their wounds became so bad that they both had to be discharged and were sent home. Then they both went home in a plane surrounded by new soldiers entering Vietnam for war. This book was very enjoyable and was in my reading level. I understood all of it with no problems. It is very interesting and I recommend this book to everyone!
